Färila, Hälsingland, SwedenHere are some words about my place on the earth. I am living in the middle of Sweden, 360 kilometres north of our capital Stockholm. It is a big difference between the south of Sweden and the north when you think of the light in summer and the dark in winter. Here it is very dark at Midwinter but nearly no dark nights at all at Midsummer. But if you want to see the Midnight Sun, you have to go further north. I have lived in a little hamlet which is called Mon (that means "the heath") and it really is a pine heath from the beginning. In this page you can see the house where we have lived for thirty years. We have owned that house and the land where it is situated but September 2009 we sold the estate because we nowadays are too old to keep it in order. Nowadays we live in a flat in the nearest town, Ljusdal
My parish is called Färila. That is the name of the village where the parish church is situated. This page is about the parish. We have very active choirs here in the parish, e.g. Färila Gospel was performing "Jesus Christ Superstar" in March 2002. The Health Centre in Färila Here I have been working between 1979-1996 Centre of the village with the school and the library. The main road 84 is passing through the village. A place named Kårböle 42 kilometres up along the river is the absolute geographical middle of Sweden so you can easily find the approximate place by the river Ljusnan. It is situated at the old trade route from Hudiksvall on the coast and the Norwegian town Trondheim by the Norwegian sea. This trade route is still living as the main road 84 which runs just outside our house. The route 84 is heavily trafficked in winter as many people from the southern parts of Sweden and from the coast go to the mountains for winter sports on this road.
A map of Sweden which is showing the counties. The county where I live is named Hälsingland. The administrative province includes Hälsingland and Gästrikland and the seat of the provincial gouvernment is in Gävle on the coast 180 kilometres from where I live.
