Glögg
Glögg is a traditional drink of the Swedish & Finnish Advent season Glögg is traditionally made with red wine, sugar and spices, and each small glass has a few almonds and raisins in it as well as the drink. December in this region is a dark, wintry time, and this hot drink helps keep the spirits cheered.
Here is the recipe I use. It is from my time at the Chemist's. We mixed 1/3 red wine, 1/3 vodka and 1/3 Syrupus sacchari and added 2% Tinctura aromatica.
Syrupus sacchari is a solution of 2/3 sugar in 1/3 water
You can buy Tinctura aromatica at Chemist's Shops
I have a recipe which is non-alcoholic too, which we name "Children's glögg".
Here it is : Svartvinbärssaft (Blackcurrant sirup)- which is like the drink "Ribena" you can buy in UK - mixed with enough of Tinctura aromatica to get the nice spicy taste. Serve hot with almonds and raisins.
