| February 14 - All Hearts Day - St Valentine's Day - a day for friendship and love. In has been celebrated in Sweden as "Alla hjärtans dag" ( that is "All Hearts Day") during the last decades. They say that the florist's never sell as many roses as just that day!  Many holidays are connected with the habit to give presents. The value does not have to be great - you appreciate the thought behind the gift. A gift is a sign of friendship. Perhaps a box with sweets in the shape of hearts? Among the youth it can be that you ask somebody to be a messenger and deliver a rose to the boy or girl you are interested in. Often an anonymous greeting. The colour has a symbolism, the colour is giving a secret message. A red rose stands for love, a yellow rose stands for friendship, a pink rose is a sign that you are interested in the person who you send the flower to. The symbol of All Hearts Day - the beating red heart - is a secret sign for true friendship and true love. The heart is reminding of love, but it is also the most vulnerable part of a human being. Red is the colour of love, but it is also the colour of blood. Friendship is a kind of essence of how life here on our earth is thought to be. Egoism and friendship exclude each other. If you want to get a friend, you must begin with being a friend yourself. God's red heart is beating for us human beings - with love and pain. |
